Back on the blog

Hey everyone! I'm back. Work and real life has kept me from adding to the blog for a bit, but I promised myself I would start posting more often.

I've been itching for soe old school fantasy big battles and wanted to use that as an excuse to paint some new troops.

Enter the Dwarves! It's an army I'm used to playing or painting. But I saw these digital sculpts by MOM miniatures and it was time to fire up the printer!

They fared really well in their first outing, but last weak they got routed. I'm blaming my Northman allies and their tricksy wizard who got us in to the whole fight.

This bad boy pin cushioned quite a few enemy bowmen. But the trade off of a huge bolt for a single lowly bowman seemed out of whack.

The King and his Boar Riders seemed fearsome, but they never quite got to close with the enemy. Shot full of holes from a distant. I'm sure the enemy had a BBQ after.
My scouts were another poorly used ynit. I should have kept them in the tress.
Stalwart clan warriors.
The Iron Beards. They held the line so the rest of the army could escape.
Finally, my Berserkers. They got their freak on a turn or two, but ultimately the drugs wore off.
Next I'll be painting up some Hearthguard and Miners.

Fistful of Lead Fantasy!

The Wiley Games Fistful of Lead: Fantasy books are the most underrated and underused titles we have.

“Between the time when the oceans drank Atlantis and the rise of the sons of Aryas, there was an age undreamed of.”

A lot of games out there force you into specific builds like Wizard, Apprentice and Henchmen, or factions. Fistful of Lead Fantasy lets you build your Retinue the way you want. Want the classic Barbarian, Wizard, Cleric Thief group? You got it. Want an all monster group, or thieves or undead? These rules are for you.

Grandpa Gruesome's Weird War Stories

We had a great time this past weekend hosting a wargaming day full of spooky games.

I ran the Annual Revenant Hunt. Famous Hunters of the Undead from all over Europe gathered to destroy the latest outbreak of foul creatures that spill forth every Halloween. They were able to destroy 3 of the 6 spawn points before the sun approached and the gates to the Underworld closed once again. Sir Reginald Ramsey took home the trophy this year.

Next, another group of Adventurers visited Terror Island in hopes stealing a strange mutagen from the claws of the mighty Turu the Terrible. The flying dino proved to be a wily opponent.

After a fine chili dinner, the wargamers gathered for a little backstabbing fun at the massive fantasy trick or treat game. Players had to visit as many locations as possible and receive treasure before returning home.

While that was going on, there was another game that saw the Rebel forces call upon some dark magics to take on Union forces west of the Mississippi.

Great Saturday of fun. Thanksto everyone who came out.

Fistful of Lead Fantasy

So happy after a year and a half of work to finally be done with the Fistful of Lead Fantasy series. I put everything into these books and cards and I think it may be our best yet.

Like Horse & Musket 2nd Edition, these are full color softbacks. We, of course have pdfs available for folks abroad who can't afford the outrageous shipping.

Getting these books out is like putting your child out into the world for the first time. Will people like them? Will people be mean to them? We've had several games on our YouTube channel so people can see how the game is played, but you'll find it's the same game you know and love expanded into a wider fantasy setting.

We've also got some great cards. Two different themed decks.

So stop on over to the store and check them out HERE.
