Work on the gaming table continued Saturday. I dropped about $200 at Home Depot and bought some really nice wood to face the rough construction. I faced the top with 1/2" MDF so it's nice and smooth. I painted it the same color as most of my terrain and added hex "corners" so the default top has 5" hexes for Commands and Colors or an aerial combat game.
I'm adding faux "bolts" by glueing dowel caps to make the table, when painted, look like rivetted metal. I'll then give it a rusted look. Steam-punk! Steam-punk!
I've been slowly framing all the military art I've collected over the years, too. It's slowly becoming my dream game room.

That is awesome! Did you spray paint the top? That paint job looks really smooth. Also, are the hexes a stencil?

We are going to have to try Commands and Colors. Do you have your modifications to the rules written down anywhere?
You talking fantasy, or the stuff I've done for Medieval. I'm doing Renaissance, too.
I just want to try the system. It doesn't look like there are huge armies for this. I have some fantasy 15mm stuff I am working on. Are you using 15s?

I had several hundred 25mm fantasy figures. I had Space Orks for Warhammer 40K.
Misspent youth. :) Not that I ever plan on getting that much stuff again.

Bill. C&C is great. A nice tight rule system that is easy to learn and yet full of subtlety. Light Cav can be used very effectively for cutting off lines of retreat. (A pox on thee Sir Ken)

One thing, Baron. Your name throws me off, because it is the same as mine, and it is not a common useage.
Oh, and going with a steampunk theme on the table just adds that extra bit of "Shweet!" to it.
