Last night, LeadAddict brought his post apoc terrain over for a playtest of the newest incarnation of the Fistful of Lead rules. It went great, with 7 scavenge parties searching the ruins for loot.
Most uncovered terrible stuff like giant radioactive roaches or spiders, and falling debris. I lucked out with a flak vest and a toilet plunger, but was gunned down and stripped of it later. Oh well, that's how things go in the wastes...
Still some minor things to figured out, but we're on our way.

Revenge of Boot Hill: A Fistful of Lead AAR
Last night I wanted to try out some revised rules for introducing the Undead to Fistful of Lead for a special scenario available with the FfoL:Reloaded Kickstarter.
Sometimes, those men sent to Boot Hill do not rest peacefully. Sometimes, they come back, looking for revenge.
It might be that the old cemetery is actually sitting on top of an older Indian burial ground. Or, those men are just too plain honery to stay dead.
Either way, it’ll be a rough night in Lesterville...
Marshal Bill and his men have the unenviable job of protecting the citizenry from the undead hordes, or “Deaders” as they call them.
Four players took the role of the Marshal, his men, and the deputized citizens.
I took the role of the Deaders.
The Marshal has to destroy the 5 spawn points around the edge of town before being overwhelmed by hordes. This part proved the end of several deputies.
It came down to Trooper John facing down 10 newly spawned Deaders. He took 5 before being overwhelmed. Slick Dixon, that lowly lout, was the only survivor. He lit outta town, leaving Lesterville to the dead.
I took some notes, but overall it proved pretty balanced.

The town of Lesterville
Trooper Jones mixes it up with some Deaders
A few Deaders go down under a hail of gunfire. But not out.
The Dixon Gang fight on, even though they're outta bullets |
It doesn't look good for the Marshal |
He survives the first encounter only be killed in the next. |

Dragon Rampant is coming...and I'm very excited
I'm taking a short break from pimping my own rules to post about Dan "Lion Rampant" Mersey's newest creation.

Black Powder ACW: Kernstown
I had the great pleasure of playing up north with fellow Basement General John of John's Curio Clashes last Thursday.
Here are my paltry pics. See the rest at here.

On another note: Frostgrave test paint
While the Fistful of Lead Kickstarter chugs along, I took a break to paint some of the Frostgrave minis I bought. I'm going with a color scheme for each faction to tell them apart on the table.
Here's a quick phone pic.

The Annual Zombie Hunt
Last Thursday we continued a tradition we staredt last year, by holding a VSF style Zombie hunt. It was such a hit, we decided to make it an annual event.
Each player controlled 4 characters of varying skill.
They task was to destroy all 6 spawn points before being overwhelmed or succumbing to infection from bites.
Any noise not only attracted the undead but also caused more to spawn. The players learned from last year by sticking to mostly hand to hand combat, but that added a risk of getting bit.
To throw in a an extra monkey wrench, any time a player rolled a natural "20" a Drak Lord would enter the fray. These were your greater undead and traditional Halloween monsters.
The players managed to pull off a when by the skin of their teeth. Great fun as usual.
Despite people asking to run it more often, I decided to keep it a once a year thing to make it special.

Dark Age Lion Rampant: all that rebasing pays off
With their dull coat still drying, my 300+ Vikings and Normans made the precarious journey 40 minutes south to christen one of our Basement Generals new game rooms.
It was an honor and a privilege to be the first to bloody Nick's new game room.
The Viking horde was quickly bearing down on a small Norman village. The local lord was tasked with trying to save all the livestock, treasure and important personages before they fell into the pagan's hands.
Vikings got the first move and everyone was able to move the close to 200 miniatures forward.
The Normans, failed miserably to motivate their troops.
By the end, the Normans were able to finally get moving. Several leader challenges later, only one Viking commander was alive. On my flank, my leader and his Norman counterpart fought 3 times before he finally won.
It ended up being a Norman victory, but I didn't care. Everything looked great, the beer flowed freely and new war room got broken in.
